Yosemite West is a community of approximately 300 lots with over 100 private homes at 5,500 feet elevation. The community is located immediately adjacent to Yosemite National Park. Access is via Highway 41 through the South Entrance to Yosemite at Fish Camp. Continue driving 17 miles on the Wawona Road to Henness Road (on the left, just before the turn off to Badger Pass Ski area). This development provides the closest lodging for Badger Pass Ski Resort. One condominium development and many vacation rental homes provide lodging through local agencies. The original development was done by Yosemite Highlands, Inc. in the 1960s who envisioned a luxury mountain resort with year round access. All utilities are underground maintaining the pristine forest views. A moratorium on development existed for many years due to the lack of sewage capacity. This problem was solved in 2005 by enlarging the Yosemite West Wastewater Treatment Facility.
